Tacolyn 3509 Emulsion Tackifying Resin for Waterborne Adhesives

Tacolyn 3509 from Eastman Chemical Company is a low surface tension (LST) emulsion tackifying resin for adhesive tape and label waterborne adhesives. With Tacolyn 3509, it is no longer necessary to add surfactants or other wetting agents in the aqueous adhesive, thereby reducing the cost of the adhesive and increasing the product's adhesion to a range of materials including polyethylene and polypropylene. Tacolyn 3509 Emulsion Tackifier is a solvent-free, environmentally friendly material that significantly improves the initial tack and release forces of aqueous pressure-sensitive adhesives based on acrylic polymers or butadiene-styrene latex.

Tacoyn 3509 is simple to use and requires no modification prior to use, which significantly increases productivity and saves costs. Tacolyn 3509 has a very low surface tension and therefore enables good wetting of the adhesive when applied without the need for additional surfactants or other wetting agents that can cause foaming. Due to the reduction of the surfactant content in the pressure-sensitive label, the water resistance of the pressure-sensitive label is also improved, and the good adhesion can be maintained even under humid conditions such as long-term storage and shipping. In addition, due to the low surface tension technology, the adhesive has a higher solid content at the same viscosity, which helps to increase the drying speed of the film.

Tacoyn 3509's unique emulsifier chemistry allows the adhesive to have a stronger, longer-lasting tack. Tacolyn 3509 is an effective binder for water-based tackifiers. Its water-based adhesives can be used in a wide range of labels for paper labels, stamps, glass and plastic bottles, and even for difficult-to-stick recyclable paper products. Tacolyn 3509 is currently manufactured in North America and Europe and sold to manufacturers around the world.
