The deviation value should be subtracted or added to the measurement reading or the four screws on the back of the dial should be loosened. (3) Select a test tube of appropriate length, fill it with the liquid to be tested, install a rubber ring, screw on the screw cap, or even leak. The nut should not be screwed too tight, otherwise the cover glass will cause stress and affect the accuracy of the reading. Then dry the residual solution at both ends of the test tube to avoid affecting the clarity of the observation and the accuracy of the measurement.

(4) Determine the optical rotation reading, rotate the dial, analyzer, and find a position with the same brightness in the field of view, and then read from the reading plate. The positive reading is right-handed material, and the negative reading is left-handed material.

(5) Using the double cursor reading method, the result can be obtained according to the following formula.

(6) Optical rotation is also related to temperature. For most substances, measured with λ = 5893A ° (sodium light), when the temperature increases by one degree, the optical rotation decreases by about 0.3%. For the more demanding measurement work, it is best to be able to carry out at 20 ℃ ± 2 ℃.
