The team at our South Coast Regional Distribution Centre in Portsmouth recently made a generous £1,000 donation to the charity Children with Cancer UK. This act of kindness highlights their ongoing commitment to supporting local causes and making a real difference in the lives of children and families affected by cancer.

Children with Cancer UK is a well-established charity dedicated to funding pioneering research that improves the treatment and survival rates for children with cancer. The organization also works tirelessly to raise awareness and encourage others to get involved in the fight against childhood cancer.

With a mission to enhance the quality of life for young patients, support their families, and ultimately prevent cancer in the future, the charity has been making a significant impact since its founding in 1987. Their work continues to inspire hope and drive progress in pediatric oncology.

Neil Hopkins, Managing Partner of Kite Portsmouth, shared his thoughts on the donation: “We are incredibly proud to support such an important cause. Children with Cancer UK does incredible work, and it’s a privilege for us to contribute in any way we can.”

The charity was founded after Eddie and Marion O’Gorman lost their two children, Paul and Jean, to cancer. In February 1987, Paul, their 14-year-old son, passed away from leukaemia. Just weeks later, the family faced another heartbreak when Paul’s sister, Jean, also died from the disease nine months later.

In November 1987, just days after Jean's death, Eddie and Marion met Diana, Princess of Wales, who was deeply moved by their story. She played a key role in helping to establish the charity, which has since grown into one of the most respected organizations in the field of childhood cancer care and research.
