The inkjet printing market will reach $67.3 billion in 2017

According to a report by Pira, a well-known consultancy in the global packaging, Printing, and paper industries, the global inkjet printing market reached approximately $33.4 billion in 2011 and is projected to grow to $67.3 billion by 2017. This significant growth highlights the increasing importance of inkjet technology across multiple sectors.

The steady expansion of the inkjet printing market can be attributed to its versatility and adaptability in various applications. It has become an essential part of many industries, from commercial printing to industrial labeling. Although it currently holds only a small portion of the global printing market, inkjet technology has been growing rapidly, especially as traditional printing methods face challenges. In 2017, it's estimated that inkjet printing will account for about 1% of total printed materials globally, representing roughly 7% of the overall printing market. Currently, signage remains the largest application area for inkjet technology, making up 57% of the 2011 market share. However, as the demand for high-speed inkjet printing increases in fields like books, newspapers, direct mail, and packaging, the dominance of sign printing is expected to decline.

High-speed inkjet printing has demonstrated remarkable potential, with growing adoption in dynamic and fast-paced environments. Companies like HP have seen impressive growth in this sector. For example, in 2011, HP's high-speed inkjet printers produced over 8 billion sheets of printed material, marking a 459% increase compared to 2010. This trend suggests that the high-speed inkjet printing market is on a strong upward trajectory.
