Surveys by advertisement service companies have shown that the number of advertisement pages has increased slightly. As publishers increase their advertising costs, their income has increased significantly.

According to the publisher's information bureau, the magazine's page number in the first half of 2004 increased by 0.5% from 2003, while publishers’ advertising revenue increased by 7.3% over the same period. Levin said: "Because of the fierce market competition, it is clear that printing companies and their upstream suppliers have not transferred their increased costs to publishers."

Many pictorial companies abandon or reduce the big picture books, but instead use targeted pictorials that are personalized to meet the interests of particular customers.

At the same time, the flexo version can only stagnate in the publishing market. Although some newspaper publishers are still buying flexographic printing presses, this process is not as fast as the packaging market in the press. Levin said: "The quality of flexo cannot be compared to the quality of presses in press or intaglio newspapers, and there are also problems with time, cost, and quality of platemaking."

Kuchta said: "Flexographic printing has not achieved major development, and production efficiency has not kept pace with the long-term demand that is common in most newspaper printing."

Kuchta pointed out other trends in press inks, such as the use of low-weight paper and new production services.

New technology

In order to meet the increasingly demanding quality requirements of printers, ink companies have developed a large number of new products.
