The process involves injecting Landa Nano ink—aqueous ink containing nano-sized pigment particles—into a print head. During printing, the ink is first transferred to a heated blanket and then onto the substrate. This technique works best on uncoated or coated paper, plastic films, and labels.
At its core, nano-printing is a type of embossing transfer technology used to create micro-structures on surfaces. It uses a mold with a nano-scale pattern as a “printing plate,†and a polymer-coated silicon wafer or glass sheet as the substrate. Once the nano-ink is transferred to a heated blanket, the moisture evaporates quickly, allowing the print to move directly to the next stage without waiting for drying. Moreover, nano-printing can handle up to 8 colors in the same area without over-saturation, offering resolutions of 600–1200 dpi and speeds of up to 13,000 pages per hour on sheet-fed presses and 200 meters per minute on web presses.

Traditional inks often come with limitations that affect both efficiency and output. For example, they typically require surfactants to reduce surface tension and improve adhesion. However, nano-inks offer a better alternative. Their nanoparticles have excellent wettability, which enhances the ink’s oleophilicity and overall printability.
Nanoparticles, whether metallic, non-metallic, organic, or inorganic, can be tailored to achieve specific ink properties. For instance, metal nanoparticles can enhance black ink purity and density, offering effects that traditional materials cannot match. When combined with resins, pigments, and fillers at the nano-scale, they allow for less pigment usage without compromising hiding power. In UV inks, they can accelerate curing and prevent issues like shrinkage and wrinkling.
Furthermore, when semiconductor nanoparticles are chemically modified, their optical properties can be enhanced. Adding them to yellow and cyan inks can result in more vibrant prints with richer color depth and improved lightfastness and resistance to fading. The smaller molecular structure of nano-inks also improves their fluidity and uniformity, reducing friction on printing plates and minimizing defects such as smudging, misregistration, and dirty plates.
