Italian scientists recently invented a new technology. High-strength, high-value polymers can be produced from a mixture of waste plastics.
This technique produces uniform melting by decomposing the molecules of the plastic waste and then regenerating these molecules to synthesize hybrid molecules. The latest method is to add solid carbon dioxide to the mixture. The carbon dioxide becomes a liquid under a certain pressure, causing a slight explosion like a collision of hot balls. Part of the carbon dioxide evaporates into gas in a few seconds. The result is various molecular fragments in the decomposition chain. The end points and unpaired electrons react rapidly and recombine rapidly to form a robust new polymer.
The composite material produced by this method has the same strength as pure polyethylene and is as hard and durable as PVC plastic.
