Balancing the samples before centrifugation is crucial to avoid damage to the rotor and ensure smooth operation. If the rotor is used frequently, consider pre-cooling it to maintain performance. Regularly inspect the rotor for signs of wear, and protect the counting ring located at the bottom of the rotor.
In case of operational issues, check the power supply first. If the main indicator light is off, verify that the fuse and circuit breaker are intact. Ensure that the power cable is securely connected. Also, check the vacuum pump and oil pressure. If the oil pressure is too high and the machine fails to start, inspect the oil lines for blockages, especially the throttle hole, and clean it if necessary.
Worn bearings can cause friction and reduce motor speed. Clean or replace them as needed. Oxidation on the commutator surface or uneven contact with the brushes may lead to reduced performance. Clean both components to improve electrical contact. If the rotor coil is damaged—either shorted or open—use a multimeter to test it, and have it rewound by a qualified technician if necessary.
Potential issues such as broken tubes, sample leakage, or rotor damage can occur due to metal fatigue, over-speeding, improper use, or chemical exposure. Always follow manufacturer guidelines for rotor selection and balancing to minimize these risks.
