2015 "Lange watchmaking award" issued

This year's winning entries: Calendar week display by Reima Koivukoski

December 7, the brand in Dresden presented the 2015 "Lange watchmaking awards", this day is also the brand's anniversary. Reima Koivukoski (23 years old) from Kelloseppäkoulu, Finland, received a prize of € 10,000 for the Calendar Week, which simulates the axial tilt of the Earth. The award was presented to winners at the international press conference held by Wilhelm Schmid, President of Langhe, and Walter Lange, founder of the company, at the Albertinum in Dresden.

The topic of this year's event is to create a calendar week display. Into the last eight watchmaking rookie, respectively, from five different countries. They visited the watch factory in May for several days to learn more about the competition.

A jury of five experts started the evaluation work at the end of November. Judges include Walter Lange, founder of the company; Anthony de Haas, director of product development at Lange; Gisbert L. Brunner and Peter Braun, senior journalists; and Peter Plassmeyer, director of the Dresden Royal Mathematical Physics Apparatus Exhibition. The jury scored based on the originality, technical performance, craftsmanship and aesthetics of the work.

Reima Koivukoski was selected by the jury with innovative design techniques, sophisticated techniques, meticulous production details and high-quality craftsmanship. The jury explained: "His work is both aesthetically and ergonomically unique and can feel the creator's courage to transform the movement's structure." Koivukoski's work shows that the axis of the Earth tilts toward the sun, Impressed Due to its geographical location, the dark and dark nights of winter and summer in Finland, as well as the white nights, are sharply contrasted, and the unique design of Koivukoski draws its inspiration.
