Malaysia: Mineral water plastic bottles should not be recycled

Minister of Health Datuk Seri Chai Lili advised the people not to repeatedly use plastic food and drink bottles.

He said that this is because the quality of these containers is not reliable, and food and drinks consumed or consumed by the Malaysian people may have infiltrated chemical substances.

“The plastic containers used for the foods bought outside are ready-to-use and are designed for one-time use. These containers are not intended for people to hold other foods,” he accepted the English Star. Pointed out during the interview.

He said that people can only use reusable plastic food containers, such as household plastic tea, plastic dishes, plastic bowls, plastic bottles and plastic boxes, because these containers are relatively strong and heat-resistant.

He stressed that plastic containers printed with "Microwave safe" can only be used once.

In addition, he said, plastic bottles containing bottled mineral water are not suitable for recycling.

“These bottles are not easy to clean, and the interior of the bottle cannot be washed at all. In the hot weather of Malaysia, its stability is not reliable.”

Cai Xili gave the above advice based on a study commissioned by the Ministry of Health commissioned by the Faculty of Medicine of Malaya University. The study was led by Prof. Muthadafa.

The authorities used 47 plastic containers for research and found that 45 of the containers contained at least one chemical substance that leaked out.

The purpose of this study was to study the chemicals contained in polystyrene plastic food containers.
