Dutch company launches fonts to save ink when printing

According to foreign reports, a Dutch company stated that they had found a way to reduce the cost of printing. In this approach, the use of a special type of font could reduce ink usage by 15%.

This type of font is called "Ecofont" and the middle of the font is filled with holes. Gerjon Zomer, founder of the company, said that this is the most ink-saving font under the premise of ensuring readability. He admitted that the font is not beautiful, but it is sufficient for personal use and internal printing of the company.

The new font looks a little weird

The company currently puts fonts on the web for users to download for free, Gerjon Zomer said. There are quite a few downloads of this font, most of them from the United States. At present, the company is inviting developers to improve fonts, and hopes to provide open source models for users to use, so that they can create versions such as Arabic and Hebrew.
