Packaging Doctor

Dear The Packaging Doctor,

I am interested in selling my iron-on letters and shapes at local craft stores, but I need proper packaging. My initial thought was to use simple cardboard packaging that could be stapled around a small sealed plastic bag. It would also be ideal if it could hang on a display stand or have an easy-to-use alternative packaging method that allows potential buyers to see the product. However, I’m completely clueless about where to start or how to find someone who can print such packaging. Could you assist me with this?

Thank you in advance,

James

Hi James,

When it comes to packaging small, point-of-sale craft items like yours, blister packs are typically the best option. They provide excellent clarity, ensuring your product is securely displayed while allowing customers to view it easily. Additionally, they come with a euro-hanging slot, making them compatible with various display stands. You can also include a small piece of card inside the blister pack featuring your company logo and product description. These cards can be designed using a graphic design program or even a basic template in software like Microsoft Publisher. Once you've created the design, you can take it to a local printer, who will resize it and produce the desired quantity for you.

Using blister packs ensures your product remains intact during shipping, preventing any damage. The backing card will remain undistorted and clearly visible, showcasing your branding effectively. As an alternative, you might consider polythene bags. Lightweight, open-ended bags should suffice for your product and can be sealed using either a heat sealer or staples.

Best wishes,
